When we set out to shoot KinkBox, we had a very specific vision: Not sterile. Not overly polished. Definitely not “catalog energy.”
We wanted something that felt a little more… sexy. A little moodier. A little more confident. A little more like real intimacy.
So instead of hiring a traditional product photographer, we made a slightly unexpected choice.
We hired a boudoir photographer. We knew it was a risk not going with someone who shoots products day in and out, but we had a vision. We were thrilled when Lalani, of Lalani Saleste Photography, agreed to meet with us to discuss our unexpected request.
And honestly? It changed everything.
Boudoir Photography Just Gets It
There’s a reason boudoir photography has such a loyal following—and it’s not just about the photos. It’s about how it makes people feel. Boudoir photographers don’t just capture bodies. When we met Lalani, I was immediately blown away by her enthusiasm for capturing much, much more than that.
Looking through her portfolio, we saw how she loved teasing out a person’s confidence in such an intimate setting. Her photos created a magnetic chemistry in the stillness of these sensual moments caught on film. And the artfulness of it all was seriously magic.
That’s exactly what we wanted for our brand – for people to see our products in this light:
To see how our products create an intentional environment.
To envision a more elevated experience when considering their bedroom storage.
And to experience that tingle of excitement that cuts through the stillness when intimacy is turned up in the bedroom.
We all know cluttered drawers, sex toys scattered in various hiding points, worrying about a kid finding something private, all work together to kill the bedroom vibe. We worked hard to design storage to fix these issues and we wanted this photoshoot to show that off. To show how they can be an integrated part of the bedroom, helping to create a sexier, more intentional (and secure) vibe, without screaming “something is hidden here!”.
A Little Sexy, A Little Soft, A Lot of Confidence
Even though we haven’t stepped in front of the camera ourselves (yet), working with a boudoir photographer gave us a new perspective on confidence. Not the loud, performative kind.
The kind that feels like:
Leaving the light low instead of turning everything on.
Taking your time instead of rushing.
Feeling good in your space—even before anything happens.
It’s subtle. It builds. It lingers. And it’s exactly the energy we wanted our products to live in.
It’s Not About Looking Sexy. It’s About Feeling It.
We have to give a huge shoutout to the incredibly talented Lalani Seleste – the creative force behind our product shoot.
From the start, she was totally in sync with what we were hoping to show. We asked her to approach this product shoot like she would with a client. Setting a scene. Not so much asking for a pose, but for a feeling.
And that shows in every image. Her philosophy translated perfectly into how she shot our products.
The lighting? Soft and cinematic.
The textures? Rich, tactile, almost touchable.
The overall vibe? Intimate without trying too hard.
We’re not exaggerating when we say—we’re completely in love with how it turned out.
Why This Matters (More Than You Think)
Here’s what this experience really reinforced for us: Environment shapes intimacy.
The way a space looks…
The way it’s organized…
The way it makes you feel when you walk into it…
All of that matters. Which is exactly why we built KinkBox in the first place. Because “just throw it in a drawer” isn’t particularly inspiring.
And your sex toy storage deserves better than that.
So… Should You Try a Boudoir Shoot?
Yes. That’s it. Just yes. While I have nagging moments of lagging confidence (like most people), Lalani showed me it’s so much more than just pretending to be sexy. It’s about actually finding yourself. The process, the mood, the whole act of doing a boudoir shoot is about empowerment (and that confidence can heat things up quickly).
Because boudoir photography isn’t about putting on a show. It’s about seeing yourself differently and reconnecting with your confidence. Bringing a little spark back into your relationship and maybe even surprising yourself along the way.
So, while I initially thought it would be a fun Valentine’s present for my husband (which it still is), I mostly want to do it for myself now! We don’t take enough moments to indulge ourselves with well-deserved self-love. To see ourselves as sexy, powerful, and sensual beings.
